For the Love of Springfield Grant Program intends to help advance Springfield as one of the most culturally unique and creative cities in America. For 2024, this grant aims to support placemaking or placekeeping projects that will directly involve and impact residents, visitors, and/or businesses in Springfield’s neighborhoods.
With community-based participation at its center, an effective placemaking process capitalizes on a local community's assets, inspiration, and potential, and it results in the creation of quality public spaces that contribute to people's health, happiness, and well being.
The active care and maintenance of a place and its social fabric by the people who live and work there. It is not just preserving buildings but keeping the cultural memories associated with a locale alive, while supporting the ability of local people to maintain their way of life as they choose.
The Springfield Creative City Collective ‘For the Love of Springfield’ Grant Program is a financial investment in making or keeping a place for where things are happening and where people want to be within our beloved city. The Springfield community is a diverse and dynamic population that has utilized art, culture and business to raise the quality of life for our overall community. This grant may also include arts and culture-based solutions to expedite the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, support the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion and access (DEIA) in all forms, or re-imagine everyday spaces to see anew the potential of parks, waterfronts, plazas, neighborhoods, streets, markets, campuses and public buildings. In all cases, projects that focus on DEIA outcomes will be prioritized.
