The Springfield Creative City Collective (SCCC) conducted an in-depth assessment and analysis of the health inequities in Springfield and determined that it directly impacts the creative economy of the city. Through research and community engagement, the SCCC found that health disparities in Springfield disproportionately affect marginalized communities, including low-income individuals and communities of color. These health disparities not only affect the overall well-being of residents, but also limit the potential for economic growth and development.
To share these findings, the SCCC has published an essay entitled "Health, Wellness and Holistic Care," summarizing our research and highlighting the link between health equity and the creative economy. The essay examines the ways in which systemic health inequalities impact the ability of creatives in Springfield to succeed, and was the basis for our TDI Creative Cities grant application and subsequent award. As part of the grant application, we laid out a plan for addressing these issues through a holistic approach that considers the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents.
